As mentioned in the “State Program on socio-economic development of regions of Azerbaijan Republic for 2014-2018 years” confirmed by the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan Republic, this Program is the essential part of stable social-economic development strategy succesfully implemented in the country for development of the regions of Azerbaijan Republic. The execution of tasks of the state program accepted and successfully implemented for the developments of the regions, as well as at the decrees in connection with additonal measures for socio-economic development of the regions, gave a stimulus to stable development of non-oil sector in the country, increasing of quality of public utilities and social infrastructure in the regions, improvement of business environment, increasing of investments, opening of new enterprises and work places and as result, employment of the population and decreasing of poverty level. Also, important measures had been implemented for the development in the infrastructure of the regions as well as in the power system under the State Program.

On the basis of the strategy defined by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, a wise policy in the field of energy security had been implemented under the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan Republic, Mr. Ilham Aliyev. Consequently, for satisfying requirements of economic development and demand of the the population for electricity, “Azerenerji” JSC has built approximately 20 power plants with modern technology of total capacity 2300 MW and 10 thousands km of power transmission lines, as well as many substations were built or renovated in the economic regions.

“Azerenerji” JSC implements complex activities each year according to the action plan for timely and quality implementation of tasks arising from the State Program, which is part of this sustainable development concept. 

At present, for implementation of tasks mentioned in the State Program, "Azerenerji" JSC is working on projects such as the creation of new capacity in the power system, construction of new thermal and hydro power plants, construction and reconstruction of transmission networks and modernization of existing power units. 

It is known that from the point of view of enhancement of energy security of the our Republic, improvement of efficiency and sustainability, it is important in the near and distant future to increase power generation in the country, to continue the works for improvement of power supply to the cities and regions, also to implement works for construction and reconstruction of high voltage power transmission lines.

As in previous years, in 2017 “Azerenerji" JSC continues works under “State Program on socio-economic development of regions of Azerbaijan Republic for 2014-2018 years” in accordance with the action plan.
