Under the leadership of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, the electricity infrastructure created in the Soviet times and in the period of independence was an important basis for today's energy security of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

As a result of the progressive socio-economic reforms carried out by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the stability of the energy system has been strengthened and the electricity demand has been fully reimbursed and become the exporter of electricity to our country.

As a result of the introduction of modern technologies in the construction of new energy facilities, the energy system has achieved not only quantitative but also qualitative development.  The useful factor of work of power stations has increased, and principles of ecological cleanliness have been observed.

According to the press service of “Azerenerji” JSC, for the first 9 months of 2017, about 16 billion 384,5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were produced in the electric power industry, which is much more than 229,1 million kilowatt hours more than in the same period in 2016.

The largest hydroelectric power plant in the South Caucasus, including the largest energy producer in Azerbaijan,  “Azerbaijan” TPP has successfully completed 9 months of this year with remarkable technical and economic indicators. So, over 9 months of this year, about 6 billion 286,4 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were produced, which is 1 billion 547,3 million kilowatt-hours more than in the same period last year.

Note that, 22.1 million kWh in the Astara Power Plant, 10.2 million kilowatt hours in the Khachmaz Power Plant, 25.6 million kilowatt hours in the Baku Power Plant,, 58.4 million kilowatt hours in the Sangachal Power Plant, and 44.2 million kilowatt hours Shahdag Power Plant of electricity production at the compared to the same period last year.  With 12.4 million kilowatt-hours of electricity Mingachevir hydroelectric power station was registered as the highest indicator in hydroelectric power plants.
