“Azerenerji”JSC is working on the largest power plant built during the period of independenc, and the groundbreaking ceremony of the power plant was held in February this year with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev and Minister of Businesses and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso. 2 gas turbines and 2 generators manufactured by the Italian company “Ansaldo Energia” for the “New 1280 MW Power Plant” being built on the territory of the “Azerbaijan” TPP in Mingachevir, were loaded onto a ship and sent to Azerbaijan and shipped from Baku port to Mingachevir with special trailers carrying the heaviest load. It should be noted that the turbines and generators, each weighing 300-400 tonnes, were passed under bridges along the road with special precautions. Thus, 2 sets of GTs and generators shipped by “Ansaldo Energia” have already been installed, and 2 sets are currently being assembled in Italy according to the order and will be shipped in the first months of next year. Meanwhile, a delegation led by Fabbrizio Fabri, CEO of the Italian company “Ansaldo Energia” visited the newly built power plant. Firstly, with the participation of the president of “Azerenerji” JSC, Baba Rzayev, the guests visited the monument to National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev erected in the courtyard of the “Azerbaijan” TPP in Mingachevir and laid flowers at its pedestal. Then the reconstructed units and the construction site were inspected and the information regarding the progress of the works was obtained. Subsequently a meeting was held on the friendly relations between Italy and Azerbaijan, progress of the works, construction and installation works. During the meeting, “Ansaldo Energia” and “Azerenerji” JSC exchanged views on the manufacturing of auxiliary equipment, staff exchange, preparation of spare parts and other issues. At the end of the visit, the delegation of “Ansaldo Energia” visited ADA University and a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between ADA University, “Azerenerji” JSC, “Ansaldo Energia” and the University of Turin within the framework of Italy-Azerbaijan University project. According to the agreement, a training and Laboratory Center will be established on the territory of of “Shimal” Power Plant owned by “Azerenerji” JSC in Shuvalan. This center will provide the training of competitive, highly skilled professional staff who can flexibly adopt new technologies to respond to global challenges.
