In line with the strategy of President Ilham Aliyev to turn the territories liberated from occupation into “green energy” zone, SHPPs were reconstructed and put into operation by “Azerenerji” JSC in 6 locations in Kalbajar district to date. Thus, in 4.4 MW “Kalbajar 1” SHPP in 2022, 8.33 MW “Chiraq” 1, 3.6 MW “Chiraq” 2, 6.33 MW “Qamishli”, 5.3 MW “Soyugbulag”, 3.4 MW “Meydan” SHPPs were inaugurated after reconstruction. At present, 4 SHPPs (Ashagi Vang, Yukhari Vang, Nadirkhanli, and Zar) are under construction in Kalbajar and planned to be put into operation in 2024. It should be noted that immediately after the liberation of Kalbajar district from occupation, 70-kilometre high-voltage double-circuit transmission line was built from Dashkasan district, crossing the Murov mountain at an altitude of 3500 meters. In roadless areas where the mountains are steep, the weather is severely cold and the snow thickness reaches 3-5 metres, anchor plates 50 metres high and weighing 10 tonnes were installed and the work was carried out in unfavourable conditions. Meanwhile, a 110/35/10 kV digital substation was built in Kalbajar, located in a harsh climate and difficult terrain. The substation was inaugurated in the summer of 2021.
