Event regarding “20 January is glorious part of our history” held in “Azerenerji” JSC started with one minute silence for 20 January victims.

Opening an event with opening speech Mr. Etibar Pirverdiyev, the President of “Azerenerji” JSC mentioned that 20th January tragedy had been engraved to the memory of our people as the symbol of independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. The confident and successful celebration of 25th anniversary of restoration of the state independence of Azerbaijan Republic in last year demonstrated once again that despite this occasion was written by blood, it is the glorious historical annals. It must be specially noted that the main stimulus in this way was visit of Great National Leader, Heydar Aliyev living in Moscow in that period with his son Ilham Aliyev on 21st January, the next day of the tragedy to the Representative Office of Azerbaijan in Moscow and declaring to world society about ugly moments of the bloody occasion incompatible with humanity and importance to give political-legal evaluation to this slaughter. Just after our National Leader, Heydar Aliyev returned to the management of Azerbaijan according to our people’s persistent request in 1993, the political and legal evaluation was given to 20th January events and details of this event were brought to the notice of the world society.

Then the member of the Milli Mejlis Mr. Aydin Mirzezade spoke about the history of 20th January tragedy, the role of this event in obtaining independence. He told about the role of this day in our national statehood. He mentioned that despite 27 years passed from this event, each year this tragedy is commemorated with greater enthusiasm. Children born in January of 1990 are working at important works for independent Azerbaijan Republic, protect our national interests at different spheres of country life. This indicates that despite this event was written with blood, it is base of our freedom and independence.

In particular, National Leader Heydar Aliyev has a great merit in perpetuation of this event. At present, this line is continued by the President of Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev. With participation of the leader of the country, each year the memory of victims of 20th January tragedy is revered with deep respect and special measures are taken in connection with this event.

Then the Advisor to the President of “Azerenerji” JSC, academician Arif Hashimov in its speech underlined moral issue of the event held regarding 20th January and historical value of Moscow declaration of our National Leader Heydar Aliyev who politically and legally evaluated firstly the bloody January events. He mentioned that the independence of our state has become stronger, our country has developed rapidly and our army has strengthened under the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan Republic, Mr. Ilham Aliyev.

It was noted at the event that 20th January event is glorious part of the history of Azerbaijan. Always the blessed memory of our martyrs died for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of our motherland-Azerbaijan will be honored and will live forever in our hearts.
