In the "Azerenerji" JSC an event was held on the theme "January 20 is the day of national honor in the history of Azerbaijan" with a memory of the martyrs with a minute of silence.

It was stated that twenty eight years had passed since the tragedy of 20 January. The history of Azerbaijan was dated 20 January - a symbol of independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. Although this event is written in blood, it is a glorious chronicle of history.Our people celebrate this day with great gratitude and pass it on to future generations.

It was noted that, after the return of our national leader Heydar Aliyev to the leadership of Azerbaijan in 1993, on the insistent demand of our people on 20 January, events were politically and legally assessed, and details of this event were brought to the attention of the international community. As a result of the intense work of the great leader, the National Assembly adopted a resolution on "tragic events in Baku on 20 January, 1990" and proclaimed "20January National Mourning Day". The honorary title "martyr 20 January” was created. Thus, the name of our holy martyrs was immortalized, and their families were covered by the state.

Deputy Aydin Mirzazade told about the history of the tragedy on 20 January and its place in the conquest of our independence.

Other speakers also spoke about the role and place of this event in the history of Azerbaijan and stressed the importance of the national one.
