AZERBAIJAN AND IRAN SIGNED A CONTRACT ON PURCHASE AND SALE OF ELECTRICITY

The delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The issues regarding the supply of electricity purchase and sale between the two countries, the regulation of joint activities of Azerbaijan-Iran-Russia energy systems and the transit of electricity to the third country were discussed at the meeting held at the Ministry of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Azerenergy OJSC and Iran's TAVANIR Energy Generation, Transmission and Distribution Management Company signed a contract on purchase and sale of electricity.The document was signed by the President of "Azerenergy"OJSC EtibarPirverdiyev and Chairman of the Board of "TAVANIR" Company, ArashKordi.

Under the contract, starting from June of the current year in the isolated (island regime), for the Mughan and Astara regions of Iran, the process of exporting 180 MW of electricity"Azerenergy" OJSC will be started.

In addition, the sides agreed to hold a trilateral meeting in Baku on April 26, 2018in order to implement the process of unifying the Azerbaijan-Iran-Russia energy systems. As well as, wide exchange of views were conducted regarding the development of the Iran-Azerbaijan-Georgia electricity corridor, and the importance of holding a trilateral meeting was stressed.
